HC fiat to deploy additional women security personnel during Puja

A public interest litigation (PIL) filed raising the issue of increase of crime against women and minor girls including school children in different districts of Jharkhand was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday. During the hearing, the court directed the state government to monitor major places with CCTV cameras, promote helpline numbers for emergency help to women through advertisements in local TV channels and newspapers and repair street lights at all places.

At the same time, the court has directed the government to appoint additional women security forces around the Puja pandals and extend the operating time of pink buses regarding Durga Puja. Now the High Court will hear this PIL on November 18. High Court woman advocate Bharti Kaushal has filed a PIL in this regard. Advocate Gaurav Kumar presented his side in this case on behalf of the state government. A division bench of High Court Chief Justice and Justice Deepak Roshan is hearing this case.

Meanwhile in other development, the hearing in the High Court on the order of charge framing by the trial court in the sexual harassment case against Sunil Tiwari, a close aide of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and his press advisor, has been completed.

After which the court has reserved its decision. Sunil Tiwari's petition was heard in the court of High Court Judge Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi. Advocates Prashant Pallav and Parth Jalan presented their case on his behalf. On Thursday, the final debate took place from both sides in this case. Let us tell you that a girl from Khunti has accused Sunil Tiwari of raping and abusing her using casteist words. The girl lodged an FIR at Argora police station in Ranchi on 16 August 2021. The entire incident has been mentioned sequentially in the FIR.

Rs 50 lakh fine in cheque bounce case

Ranchi Civil Court has imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh on Rajan Bhardwaj, a resident of Pandra, after finding him guilty in a cheque bounce case. The court has also sentenced Rajan to one year imprisonment. A court of Judicial Magistrate of Civil Court has given this verdict. A cheque bounce case was filed against Rajan on 3 May 2019. Manoranjan Jha had filed a cheque bounce case against Rajan.
