Former professor from the Faculty of Commerce of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, Dr. Shailesh Sharma (66 years), who gave a new direction to journalism for almost four decades, breathed his last in Delhi on Thursday. He passed away at around 3 am on January 18 at Medanta Hospital, New Delhi. A few days ago he was diagnosed with spinal cancer. He is survived by two sons, a daughter and wife Geeta Sharma. His last rites were performed in Delhi itself. Hazaribagh was the workplace of Dr. Sharma, who was a native of Saharanpur near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
On his sudden demise, a condolence meeting was organized at the Press Club Hazaribagh. Journalists observed two minutes of silence and prayed for the peace of his soul. All the journalists paid tribute to him by paying floral tributes to his photograph.

Dr Sharma contributed to newspapers like Prabhat Khabar, Rashtriya Naveen Mail, Dainik Hindustan, Dainik Jagran, Hindustan Times, The Pioneer etc. In December last year, he was honoured with the Trivenikant Thakur Award.
