Under the Naxal eradication campaign in Madhya Pradesh, continuous action is being taken against Naxalites. In this sequence, Hawkforce of Madhya Pradesh Police has got success.
During the anti-Naxal operation, on February 8, a joint team of Cobra 207 and Hawkforce, which was searching in Chakarwaha forest area under Garhi police station area of Balaghat district, had an encounter with Naxalites.
Due to retaliatory action by Cobra 207 and Hawkforce, the Naxalites fled into the dense forest. No Cobra 207 or Hawkforce personnel were injured in this encounter. Cooker bombs made with the aim of causing harm to the police force were seized from the Naxalites.
Apart from this, the searching team also recovered a large quantity of daily items, medicines etc. used by Naxalites. The search team is searching for Naxalites in the forests.
Cobra 207 and Hawkforce received information about the presence of 15 to 20 Maoists in Chakarwaha forest area under Garhi police station area. As part of the anti-Naxal operation, a joint search team of Cobra 207 and Hawkforce went out in search of Maoists in the forest.
On February 8, around 9 am, during the search and area domination operation in Chakarwaha forest area, Maoists opened fire on the searching party. Retaliatory firing was also done by the police searching party. Fearing retaliation, the Maoists fled into the dense forest.
After the incident, a search was conducted at the spot by the Hawk Force party. Cooker bombs, Naxal tents, batteries, wires, medicines, axe, cooking utensils, tarpaulin and other items of daily use in huge quantity have been recovered from here, causing economic and strategic loss to the Naxalites. At present intensive searching is being done by additional security forces in the entire area.
Three major actions have been taken in the year 2023 under the anti-Naxal campaigns being run by Madhya Pradesh Police to eradicate Naxalism in the Naxal-affected districts of the state. In these actions, Hawkforce has neutralized 4 hardcore Naxalites including 2 female Naxalites.
A reward of Rs 14 lakh each was jointly announced by the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on all these Naxalites. Apart from this, in August 2023, Madhya Pradesh Police arrested SZCM Ashok Reddy alias Baldev, in-charge of mass organization of North Bastar and RKB Division, along with his wife ACM Remati from Jabalpur city.
