Half work done, be prepared for Assembly polls battle: Mir

Thursday, 13 June 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Extended Working Committee of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress held, on Thursday, a review meeting for recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

The State Congress In-Charge, Ghulam Ahmed Mir as Chief Guest and the State Congress Chief, Rajesh Thakur presided the meeting. In the meeting, each seat was reviewed in the context of the elections held recently. In this sequence, feedback was taken from the District President, State Officer coming under the respective Lok Sabha regarding the election activities. During this, along with the review of Lok Sabha seats, it was decided to soon decide a framework for the preparation of the upcoming assembly elections.

Addressing the meeting, Mir said that the workers hard work gave strength to the party. "The public has now made us so strong that the Center can no longer be dictatorial, cannot impose arbitrary decisions on the public. Until we do a complete review, we cannot take the next step strongly. We will review both the won and lost seats at every level," he added.

"We have to remove our shortcomings rather than wasting time, we have to see that the work that is left is completed soon. Time is less, work is more, the weak link has to be found and strengthened. From the point of view of strengthening the organization, all the points put forward by you people are in my mind and work will be done in the organization accordingly. Our MLAs have failed the BJP's attempt to topple the Government. The work which was stopped at the Government level due to the code of conduct will be completed by talking to the alliance parties. I have seen during the entire election who has used the power and position given by the organization. During the election, we have got full support from the central leadership. Nyay Yatra was for the whole Country and that yatra has left an impression in the hearts of the people, due to which today we are in the country as a strong opposition, BJP is on its knees," said Mir.

On the occasion Thakur said that the efforts in this election have been better than in the past elections, which needs improvement. "Compared to the 2019 elections, this time our voting percentage has increased in every Lok Sabha. In the whole of Jharkhand, our number of seats has increased by 16 lakh votes as compared to last time. Compared to 2019, we have got 51 per cent more votes in Hazaribagh, 21 per cent in Khunti, 33 per cent in Lohardaga, 135 per cent in Chatra, 34 per cent in Dhanbad and 16 per cent more votes in Ranchi. The public trusts us more, we need to reach out to them and convey our work and programs to them," he added.

"The time of Agni Pariksha has come in Jharkhand, elections are going to be held in four months. The promises made to the public by our government should be conveyed to the common people. We will fulfill the expectations of the public. Today's meeting is the beginning of preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, we have started the upcoming assembly elections from today, we have to give better results than last time because the public is standing with us," said Thakur.

Giving information about the meeting, the State Congress Spokesperson, Sonal Shanti said that a resolution was passed to thank the Congress leadership,  Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi,  Priyanka Gandhi for the victory of the All India Alliance in Jharkhand. "Ek Din Ek Vidhan Sabha" program will be run.
