Jharkhand Governor has directed Deputy Commissioner, Dhanbad to hold an inquiry into allegation of raiyats ( rightful owners of land) of forceful capturing of hundreds of acres of land by Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto and file a report.
The directive came following a letter written by Saryu Roy, MLA -cum- Chairperson, Committee on Public Undertakings, Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in this regard to the Governor.
Roy in his complaint has attached details of land being forcefully occupied by the MLA as well as a complaint made by local public to Rai while he visited the area on invitation of victim land owners to get first hand information.
The directive has come from the joint secretary rank officer of the Governor's secretariat directing the deputy commissioner to hold an inquiry and send in a report within a specified period.
Roy in his letter to the Governor has alleged that Dhulu Mahato, is bullying and oppressing the rightful landowners there and has captured government land too but despite the complaints of the villagers, the government, district administration or the police have not taken
appropriate action despite repeated requests of victims villagers.
Meanwhile, some of the victims on Wednesday reached press club Dhanbad and narrated the ordeal they have been facing since 2017-18 while land in Ledidumar and Dirgha areas were forcefully occupied by Mahto.
One of the victims Balram Mahto said we have been writing at different levels since 2018 but no action to reinstate our land. Around a dozen victims who were present alleged that the MLA haa captured around 600 acres of land of riyats as well as that of the government.
