The Uttar Pradesh government is set to install Integrated Security and Traffic Management System (ISTMS) in Greater Noida soon.
The Rs 227.60 crore project includes among other things, installation of high-quality CCTV cameras at 357 locations across Greater Noida, ensuring comprehensive monitoring.
The ISTMS will leverage advanced technologies to improve traffic management efficiency and ensure safety of people. The initiative aims to build a comprehensive system encompassing traffic management, video surveillance, emergency response and public information services.
Additionally, an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will be set up to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority will oversee the completion of this project.
The ISTMS, also referred to as the safe city and traffic management system, aims to deliver real-time and predictive information about citizens, assets, traffic flow, and congestion to law enforcement and traffic management authorities.
The initiative focuses on enhancing public safety, especially for women, children, and senior citizens, while ensuring effective urban road safety and management through adaptive control and analysis.
The system will integrate video surveillance, smart traffic signal controls, emergency service management, data analytics, routing and dispatch services, and a public information network. It will include all necessary components to establish a seamless ecosystem of connectivity, hardware and software technologies.
The ISTMS rollout is scheduled to be completed within 12 months of the launch of the project. Notably, this system has already been successfully implemented in Noida and Ghaziabad.
The project will enable real-time traffic monitoring through intelligent traffic management, aiding in crime prevention and reducing travel time.
Transport infrastructure efficiency will be enhanced to regulate and maintain smooth traffic flow at intersections, reducing congestion, travel time, fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
This initiative will also improve operational efficiency, customer service quality, real-time information access, and user-friendly interfaces while facilitating the implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
