Govt postpones Maiya Samman Yojana function, other programmes

The Chief Minister Maiya Samman programme was to be organized on 28 December at the Army Ground located at Kutiaati Chowk in Namkum. But this proposed program has been postponed for the time being. The next date of the program will be released soon. Ranchi DC gave this information.

The decision to postpone the programme was taken after the Government of India announced seven days of state mourning on the demise of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh. In such a situation, no state function of any kind will be organized in Jharkhand from 26 December to 1 January. Therefore, the Maiya Samman program has been postponed for the time being. The program can be organized any day after the state mourning.

The Government of India has announced seven days of state mourning on the demise of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh. The Jharkhand government has also decided to observe seven days of state mourning. In such a situation, no state function of any kind will be organized from 26 December to 1 January. Also, all the buildings of the state, where the national flag is hoisted regularly, will remain half-mast. In this regard, the Joint Secretary of the Hemant Government has issued a letter.

The Congress Working Committee in its resolution on Friday mourned the loss of a “true statesman”, former PM Manmohan Singh, while pleding to honour his memory and to carry forward his enduring legacy. “Dr Singh’s legacy as leader, economist, humble human being will live on, inspiring all to contribute to betterment of our great nation,” the resolution stated.

The CWC resolution also committed to upholding Singh’s values to build a “more prosperous, united India, just as he envisioned”. Meanwhile, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in a statement released Friday, called the former PM’s demise “a deeply personal loss”. “In Dr Manmohan Singh’s passing, we have lost a leader who was the epitome of wisdom, nobility and humility, who served our country with all his heart and mind,” Sonia said.

Senior politicians pay final tribute: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Union Home Minister Amit Shah BJP chief JP Nadda, among other senior leaders in the government, reached Dr Manmohan Singh’s residence on Friday morning to pay their final respects to the former prime minister. Dr Singh’s last rites will take place tomorrow near Rajghat, before which his mortal remains will be taken to AICC headquarters.

Dr Manmohan Singh, two-time prime minister and architect of the landmark economic reforms of 1991, passed away at the age of 92. The former prime minister breathed his last on late Thursday evening in Delhi. His mortal remains were brought to his residence in the national capital, where senior political leaders paid their last respects for the veteran politician. Dr Singh’s mortal remains will be taken to the AICC headquarters on Saturday morning, after which his last rites will be performed near Rajghat.
