The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has adopted two villages of Pochanpur and Amberhai areas in South - West Delhi for developing it as 'Smart Villages'. In this regard Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of the university along with other officials visited these villages and explored the possibility of allround holistic development in the areas of education, environment, health, training, awareness, skill development, sports, etc.
"The university has a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and will like to take down the classroom information to the neighbouring community for their transformation," Verma said.
The local MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and the District Magistrate (South West) Lakashya Singhal addressed the 'Jan Sunvai' held at these two villages to hear the grievances of the local villagers.
The DM, a pass out of the university, stated that over 170 projects were approved worth Rs 200 crore in the recent times in South - West district.
