Geeta Koda falls to JMM's political ‘Chakravyuh’ in Singhbhum

In a dramatic turn of events, BJP candidate Geeta Koda could not overcome the strategic stronghold created by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the Singhbhum parliamentary constituency, resulting in a significant defeat. Despite initial expectations of a close contest, the final vote count revealed a decisive victory for JMM candidate Joba Manjhi.

The counting of votes for the Singhbhum Lok Sabha elections commenced on Tuesday morning at 8 am, with anticipation high for the face-off between JMM's Joba Manjhi of the Indi alliance and BJP's Geeta Koda representing the NDA. From the outset, it was clear that Joba Manjhi was leading the race. After the first phase of counting, she had established a substantial lead of 16,519 votes, which only widened as the rounds progressed.

By the sixth round, Joba Manjhi had secured a commanding lead, amassing 84,000 votes. Despite Geeta Koda's efforts, she managed to secure only 80,393 votes by the 11th round. The overwhelming difference in vote counts prevented Koda from gaining any significant lead throughout the counting process, leaving even her critics in disbelief at the scale of her defeat.

Geeta Koda had initially appeared strong, especially with the support of former MP Madhu Koda and the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the internal dynamics within the BJP and the strategic maneuvering by the Mahagathbandhan played crucial roles in the election's outcome. The Mahagathbandhan, with its well-coordinated efforts and strategic planning, capitalized on having their own MLAs in six assembly constituencies. Conversely, the BJP struggled with internal factionalism and a lack of cohesion between old and new party members, which significantly hampered Koda’s campaign.

Despite her promising start, Koda could not navigate the political ‘Chakravyuh’ set by JMM, leading to her eventual defeat. Joba Manjhi’s consistent performance across 24 rounds of vote counting, where Koda managed to lead in only two rounds, was a testament to the robust campaign strategies employed by JMM.

At the end of the vote counting process, Joba Manjhi's victory was confirmed, reflecting the electorate's preference and the effectiveness of JMM’s campaign strategies. The outcome serves as a significant marker in Singhbhum's political landscape, highlighting the shifting dynamics and the formidable challenge that lies ahead for the BJP in future contests.

As the dust settles on this election, it becomes evident that strategic planning, cohesive teamwork, and strong grassroots connections were key factors that propelled Joba Manjhi to victory, leaving Geeta Koda and her supporters to reflect on the lessons learned from this electoral defeat.
