Garhwa police seized a truck loaded with illegal foreign liquor coming to influence the upcoming assembly elections at 3:00 am on Sunday.
Garhwa SP Deepak Kumar Pandey had formed a raiding team under the leadership of SDPO Garhwa Neeraj Kumar on the basis of secret information.
The raiding team was putting up a check post near Latdag petrol pump. During the checking, a truck with registration number UP 22 AT 9180 was signaled to stop, but on seeing the police, the truck driver started driving the vehicle faster. The said truck was chased by the police and excise department team. During this, the truck went out of control and overturned near Gonda village. The truck driver fled when the police and excise department team reached the spot.
On the checking of truck, it was found that 250 boxes of foreign liquor were destroyed due to the truck overturning and 450 boxes of liquor were seized after preparing a proper seizure list.
The raiding team included Nirmal Kumar, Excise Superintendent, Neeraj Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sub-Inspector Jitendra Kumar Azad, Sub-Inspector Vishnu Kant, Police Station Incharge, Meral, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar, Sub-Inspector Nitesh Kumar, Sub-Inspector Rabbul Ansari, Sub-Inspector Akhileshwar Prasad Singh and driver and reserve guard jawans.
