Few booths in Palamu registered 1.9%, 2.2% voting

Sunday, 09 June 2024 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Palamu administration has shortlisted the polling stations where polling was as low as 1.9 percent and also not above 50 percent in the recently concluded lok sabha election.

Bishrampur assembly constituency came handy for the worst polling percentage.

Here was polling station number 181. It was an upgraded high school north of Untari Road.

The total number of votes here at this north booth was 1300.

But only 25 votes were cast. It comes to 1.9 percent of polling.

Here again there was another booth called 182 upgraded high school south.

Here the total number of votes was 402 but against it only 9 votes were cast. It comes to 2.2 percent of the polling.

So the north end booth and south end booth voted miserably.

Here these  booths had witnessed extrordinary mess.

A group of voters just not only stayed away from voting but they prevented others from voting.

The administration handled the situation with great effort and tact otherwise May 13 here the day of voting could have scripted any more bad story for Palamu and the country.

Administration lodged the FIR under sections of both RP act and IPC against identified obstructors to the polling.

Apart from this a good many booths of Kandi block fared too bad voting wise. Kandi block comes under the Garhwa district and is a part of the Palamu's Bishrampur assembly constituency.

Additional collector Kundan Kumar said this is a fact that north end and south end booths at Untari Road had presented themselves in the worst of act and administration is all determined to contain such elements who had exhibited such a brazen and irresponsible attitude towards the voting which is a pious duty of every eligible voter.

Kundan Kumar said the administration would not let such obstructors get away.
