Monday, 03 June 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

hief Election Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that all the polling parties have returned after the voting in three parliamentary constituencies in the seventh phase of elections. All the EVMs have been sealed in the strong room after scrutiny. Three-tier security arrangements have been made at all the counting centers. He said that a total of 70.88 percent voting has taken place in Rajmahal, Dumka and Godda parliamentary constituencies. 70.78 percent voting has taken place in Rajmahal, 73.87 percent in Dumka and 68.63 percent in Godda. Similarly, the voting percentage of all the 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand has been 66.49 percent. He was addressing the media at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Sunday.

He said that compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, this time in the 2024 elections, there has been more voting in 8 out of 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand. The 6 parliamentary constituencies in which there has been less voting than in 2019 are all areas bordering the state of Bihar. He said that it is likely that this has happened due to reasons like migration in that area. Sharing an interesting information related to voting, he said that out of 14 parliamentary constituencies, women have voted more than men in 12 seats. Only in Ranchi and Jamshedpur, male voters have voted more than women, but its difference has also been marginal. At the same time, women have voted more than men in 68 assembly constituencies falling under 14 parliamentary constituencies. Only in 13 assembly constituencies, more men have voted than women.

He said that preparations for counting of votes are going on at all 14 centers. Counting of votes will start at 8 am on June 4. The results of each round will be announced at regular intervals. He said that it is likely that the counting of votes will be completed by four in the evening. The results can also be seen online. He informed that during the entire election, three policemen, 2 drivers and one election worker died due to different reasons. The families of all will get the benefit of ex-gratia grant as per the rules. He informed that since the implementation of the model code of conduct, illegal material and cash worth Rs 135 crore, 29 lakh has been seized in Jharkhand till now. On the day of the seventh phase of polling on June 1, illegal material and cash worth Rs 34.19 lakh was also seized.
