Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that importance of encouraging tuar production in the state. He highlighted that expanding the cultivation area for kodo-kutki would balance the use of water and electricity and improve the crop cycle. Therefore, farmers need to be motivated to grow kodo-kutki. Additionally, it is crucial to make farmers aware of the negative impact of summer crops on the crop cycle. Dr. Yadav addressed a meeting at the Mantralaya, focusing on beneficiary-oriented schemes for farmers, including the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme and agricultural diversification. Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Aidal Singh Kansana and Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana were also present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to keep the system of Krishi Upaj Mandi in order, senior officials should conduct surprise inspections of weighing scales, financial transactions, and other systems of the Mandi.
It should be ensured that the interests of the farmers are not compromised anywhere and the farmers’ faith in the Mandi system remains intact. Collectors should also monitor the operation of the Krishi Upaj Mandi. If irregularities are found anywhere in the Krishi Upaj Mandi, the concerned secretary will be held responsible, and strict action will be taken against them. He directed that necessary amendments be made in the provisions of warehouse construction and use to ensure the interests of the farmers.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted the state's diverse climatic conditions, soil types, and crops, crediting the tireless efforts of farmers for the state's leading position in agricultural development. He noted that the state ranks first in the country for the area and production of pulses and oilseeds. Continuous efforts are being made to increase farmers' incomes and make agriculture a profitable venture.
Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of taking necessary corrective measures to ensure that maximum marginal and small farmers benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Additionally, he stressed that every possible effort should be made under the Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Promotion Scheme to increase the production of nutritious Millets and to encourage farmers who produce it.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that crop diversification should be encouraged to replace paddy and wheat with other profitable crops. Crops that are not dependent on government procurement and whose price is linked to market and export demand should be promoted. Pointing out the need to encourage organic fertilizers in place of chemical fertilizers, he directed to submit an action plan related to expanding natural farming in all areas of the state.
More than 25 lakh farmers have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the year 2023-24. Insurance claims are also being paid promptly. 25 lakh 61 thousand farmers have been benefited under Atal Krishi Jyoti Yojana, 9 lakh 21 thousand under Free Electricity Supply Scheme and more than 80 lakh farmers have been benefited under Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana. Under Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana, 1166 quintals of certified seeds of Kodo-Kutki, Ragi, and Jowar were distributed in the State Millet Mission in the year 2024-25. An additional incentive at the rate of Rs 1000 per quintal is being provided to the farmers on Kodo-Kutki.
Grant payments to farmers are being made through pre-paid vouchers and e-Rupi
Positive results are being achieved in crop diversification, including ethanol production, organic crop production, vegetable and spice cultivation, and Ashwagandha production. Farmers are receiving subsidy payments through the pre-paid voucher system, e-Rupi.
To provide agricultural equipment to farmers at affordable prices, 3,964 out of the 5,000 new custom hiring centers planned for the state have already been established.
Information related to achievements in other beneficiary schemes run by the Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Department was also given. Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Farmers Welfare Shri Ashok Barnawal, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Manish Singh, and other officers were present were present in the meeting.
