Extreme heat witnessed despite slight dip in temp

The state capital remained extremely hot even after a slight dip in the day temperature which was recorded at 44.1 degree celsius.

The temperature was above 30 degree celsius at 5.30 am. During this, cold wind was felt in the morning after about a week. The mercury was recorded at 32 degrees at 8:30 am. In the next 3 hours, the mercury jumped by 6 degrees and the temperature was recorded at 38 degrees at 11:30 am.

In the last 4 days of Nautapa, the temperature has crossed 45 degrees twice. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of intense heat.

It was the hottest temperature for the second time in 40 years. On Tuesday also, the temperature was recorded at 45.1 degrees. This day was the fifth hottest day in 10 years. The overall record of heat is in the name of 21 May 2016. Then the temperature record reached 46.7 degrees. The weather department has issued an alert of severe heat on the fifth day of Nautapa.

Suffering from extreme hot weather conditions power failure further augments it and due to peak demand for keeping cool at homes and office transformers tend to catch fire or burst.

Power was out all night in Priyanka Nagar located on Kolar Road as the transformer installed here caught fire at 3 in the night. After this, the power supply of the area was disrupted . Due to the power outage in the extreme heat, the trouble of the people further increased. They spent the night outside their homes.

Meanwhile, the staff of the electricity company was also engaged in improving the system at night. Power supply could be restored by 9:30 am on Wednesday.

AE Rajesh Mishra of Bairagarh Chichli Zone said, there is a transformer installed in Priyanka Nagar. Fire broke out in the box of its distribution line. The earthing had become weak due to heat. Water is poured every day, but due to the scorching heat, the water had dried up. The team reached the spot at night itself and started repair work. Due to power outage, many important works of the people got stuck.

The temperature in Bhopal was 30.4 degrees at night. The people faced difficulties due to the intense heat. They remained troubled the whole night. Water supply was also affected due to lack of electricity.

The transformer caught fire due to overload and earthing problems. Which could be extinguished after about half an hour. Due to the fire in the transformer, the power supply in the surrounding area was stopped for the time being. There was a strong blast along with the fire. This terrified the residents. They say that this transformer of Priyanka Nagar was facing problems for the last 3 days. The residents had also complained about this to the electricity company. The officers had also got water filled from a tanker a day before to solve the problem of earthing.
