Expedite appointment process for vacant posts: CM to officers

Friday, 07 June 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

In his first meeting with senior officials, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the urgent need to expedite the appointment process for vacant posts.

He instructed officials to promptly send requisitions to the selection commissions wherever vacancies exist.

During Thursday’s meeting, senior officers updated the chief minister on the progress of various schemes in the current financial year and outlined future action plans for their respective departments.

“Requisitions from all departments, where vacancies and appointments are to be made, should be immediately sent to the selection commissions. The e-adhiyachan system has been implemented to facilitate the appointment process, use it,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

He also stressed the importance of thoroughly examining the rules before sending the requisition for appointments.

Local issues, which had gained prominence in the recent elections, were addressed by the chief minister. He highlighted the success of destitute cow shelters in several districts, urging other districts to adopt similar measures for livestock protection and promotion.

The chief minister emphasised the accountability of additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries, stating, “They are responsible for every system, every project, every issue related to their department. Therefore, it is their responsibility to ensure timeliness and quality.”

He urged them to maintain better communication and coordination with departmental ministers and to avoid unnecessary delays in public interest cases.

With the first quarter of the financial year 2024-25 nearing its end, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for proper and timely expenditure of allocated funds.

He instructed the Finance department to review departmental spending and simplify the rules for budget allocation and expenditure.

The chief minister also highlighted the need to enhance goods and services tax (GST) collection efforts, setting targets for field officers whose performance will be linked to their promotions and postings. He underscored the importance of using technology to prevent tax evasion.

Amidst the ongoing intense heatwave, the chief minister ordered that unnecessary power cuts across the state should be avoided. He stressed that power cuts should only occur when absolutely necessary and that issues such as burnt transformers, fallen wires, and tripping should be promptly addressed.

“Officers must be readily available to resolve disputes and attend to calls, with senior officers personally visiting the scene, if required,” he said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also called for strict enforcement of the ban on single-use plastic, timely completion of the Safe City Project, and ensuring adequate drinking water supply in urban areas.

He urged a permanent solution to the street dog issue and emphasised the need for cleanliness and solid waste management, particularly in slums.

The chief minister mandated strict regulations against overloading in vehicles engaged in mining work and emphasised the need for legal action against black marketers of sub-minerals like sand, morrum, and ballast.

He also stressed ensuring the quality and timeliness of construction projects, particularly medical colleges under the One District-One Medical College campaign.

Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for the prompt settlement of dues before the new sugarcane crushing season and stressed the need for the continuous crackdown on the production, sale, and distribution of poisonous or illicit liquor.

He also announced plans to make Mahila Sanrakshan Griha (Women Shelter Homes) operational at the commissionerate level, expanding them to all 75 districts in phases, and ensuring pure drinking water in the Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions.

The chief minister highlighted the importance of preparedness for the rainy season to prevent communicable diseases, improve the conditions in sports colleges, and maintain alertness and caution during the summer and rainy seasons.

He also directed weekly inspections of Kasturba Balika Vidyalayas by Basic Education officers and SDIs to ensure proper arrangements.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pointed out the significance of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor for Uttar Pradesh and stressed the need for continuous communication with the Government of India for this project.

He urged the Industrial Development department to resolve investment-related cases promptly and expedite the distribution of tablets and smartphones.

Finally, the chief minister called for the timely preparation of academic calendars, prompt payment of MGNREGA workers’ wages, fortnightly reviews of Home department projects, and linking beneficiary-oriented schemes to the CM dashboard for better monitoring.
