After voting on May 7 in Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, EVMs have been deposited in the strong room of the old jail where EVMs are kept under three layer security.
More than 200 personnel are deployed 24 hours a day. At the same time, 18 CCTVs have been installed to monitor the strong room and campus.
More than 20 policemen, including an inspector and two Sub Inspectors are deployed shift-wise at the main gate, while there are Paramilitary Force (CISF) personnel inside.
A DSP level officer is also on duty outside. At the same time, be it the Collector or other responsible officer, everyone has to enter the gate first. Only after this they can go inside. Deputy Election Officer Deepak Pandey said that 18 CCTVs have been installed, which are on the entire campus including the storm room.
Decision of 22 contesting candidates would be out on June 4. This arrangement is in place to protect the EVMs which were brought back after voting at 2034 polling booths in Bhopal on May 7. A strong room has been made in the old jail itself. Counting will take place here on June 4. The fate of 22 candidates will be decided.
Separate EVMs have been kept for all the 7 assembly constituencies of Bhopal – Berasia, Huzur, Narela, Govindpura, Bhopal Central, Bhopal North and Bhopal South-West.
After voting, all EVMs and postal ballots were kept in the strong room till 4 am on May 8. From this day onwards there is three level security arrangement here. Barricading has been done at the gate of the old jail complex itself. Police personnel are deployed here 24 hours a day, who do checking. No one is allowed to go inside without seeing the identity card. Doing shift wise duty. After the gate, security arrangements are handed over to the Armed Forces. The Armed forces are keeping an eye all the time.
