In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, Jeevan, Suicide Prevention Centre, Jamshedpur, spearheaded a series of awareness initiatives in the city. Two educational institutions—RMS School, Khutadih, and DBMS College of Education—mobilized students and staff in a rally to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. A total of 240 participants took to the streets, with 150 from RMS School and 90 from DBMS College, accompanied by dedicated volunteers from Jeevan.
Participants carried placards with powerful messages and chanted slogans emphasizing the importance of mental health, aiming to break the stigma surrounding it. Handbills containing the contact information for Jeevan's helpline were distributed among bystanders, encouraging those in need to reach out for help.
The rallies are just the beginning of a series of planned events across the city. On September 6, Dayanand Public School and JUSCO School Kadma will hold their rallies, followed by DBMS Career Academy and Vivek Vidyalaya, TELCO, on September 9. Arka Jain University will culminate the campaign with a rally on September 10, aligning with World Suicide Prevention Day.
