To review the poll preparedness for Assembly Elections in the State, an Election Commission of India (ECI) delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar reached Chandigarh on Monday for a two-day visit to Haryana. Election commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu were part of the ECI delegation.
On the first day, the ECI delegation met with representatives of national and state political parties. Following this, the Chief Election Commissioner presided over a review meeting with Divisional Commissioners, Range IGs, District Election Officers, and Superintendents of Police to discuss election preparations in detail. The ECI delegation also met with the Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur and Administrative Secretaries.
Earlier, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal welcomed the ECI delegation on its arrival. Agarwal also briefed the Commission on poll preparations along with the State Police Nodal Officer.
According to a Haryana Election official, the ECI delegation will review election preparations in a meeting with representatives of political parties, district election officers and senior officers. On Tuesday, the poll panel team will issue guidelines to enforcement agencies to enhance monitoring and vigilance across the state. The commission will hold meetings with the chief secretary, director general of police, other administrative secretaries and senior police officers to review other arrangements, officials said. The elections to the Haryana Assembly are due later this year.
