District Transport Officer (DTO) Vandana Shejwalkar stressed the importance of adhering to a directive from the Transport Department, Jharkhand Ranchi, mandating the prompt updating of fitness certificates and other documents for school buses.
In this regard, all principals of private schools have been instructed to ensure that the vehicles operating under their institutions comply with the necessary documentation requirements. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will lead to inspections, and any discrepancies found will result in action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, including penalties.
The initiative aims to enhance the safety and compliance of school transportation systems across the district. Authorities believe this measure will reduce road safety risks, ensuring that vehicles meet operational standards, and safeguard the well-being of schoolchildren. Regular audits will be conducted to verify compliance, reinforcing accountability and the importance of maintaining stringent standards for school Children’s safety.
