Day-night cricket tournament started on Thursday late evening at the main campus ground of AISECT University, Hazaribag at Taraba-Kharba. The match was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. PK Nayak. The first match of the tournament was played between AISECT University and Silwar Kings. Batting first, the team of AISECT University scored 98 runs in 10 overs, which included a brilliant innings of 58 runs by Atul. Chasing the target of 99 runs, the team of Silwar Kings collapsed at 80 runs and lost the match by 18 runs. Atul was selected as the Man of the Match for his brilliant half-century innings.16 teams including AISECT University, Silwar Kings, Active Yuva Samiti Taraba, Maheshra Cricket Club, Green Galaxy Barkagaon, Saint Columba Mahavidyalaya, Gopolo Cricket Club, Team Destroyer Amrit Nagar, Meru Striker, Friends Club Dumra, Union Supporting Club Jinga, Academic Supergiants, Pugmil Night Club, RK Club Kharika, Lakhayya Warrior, Amrit Nagar 11 are participating in this knockout tournament. The teams that win in the first round and make it to the top 8 will clash with each other on June 4 and 5 for the top four according to the ranking. Both the semi-final matches will be played on June 6 and the title match will be held on the evening of June 8.

University Registrar Dr. Munish Govind said that the cricket tournament is being organized with the aim of developing talent in sports along with studies among the youth of not only the university but also of various areas of the district and to provide a proper platform to better players. 

The role of AISECT University Sports Committee Chairman Uday Ranjan, Aditya Kumar, Amit Kumar, Sanjay Dangi, Rajesh Ranjan, Rahul Kumar, Mukesh Kumar Sao, Pankaj Pragya, Alok Kumar Sinha, Shiv Kumar, Ajit Paswan, Ritesh Kumar, Dr. Satyaprakash and Pramod Ram, among others, is important in making the match a success.
