A CRPF jawan was killed and two others were seriously injured when their Scooty was hit by a truck on the Kandra-Seraikela road late Wednesday night. The incident occurred under the Seraikela thana area, approximately 28 km from Jamshedpur.

The deceased, identified as Harendra Kunkal, was a resident of Mango. The mishap took place near the Jio petrol station at Dugni around 11 pm as the victims were traveling on the Seraikela-Kandra road from the Seraikela end.

Circle Inspector Santosh Gupta of Seraikela revealed that the police learned about the fatal mishap early this morning. "A patrolling party found three men lying in a pool of blood on the road, one of them trapped under the wheel of a truck. The police rescued the injured trio and rushed them to Seraikela Sadar Hospital, where one of them was declared brought dead," Gupta said.

Given the critical condition of the two injured individuals, they were immediately transferred to MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH). Plans are underway to shift them to Tata Main Hospital for better treatment.

The police inspector confirmed that the driver and cleaner of the truck fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle near the site of the mishap. The truck has since been seized by the police.

Harendra Kunkal, the CRPF jawan who lost his life in the accident, was posted at the CRPF’s Battalion VI in Sundarnagar.

“ This incident underscores the need for increased road safety measures and vigilance to prevent such tragedies. The police are conducting a thorough investigation and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding driver and cleaner of the truck,” said an official.
