Several key meetings of newly appointed state party office bearers were jointly chaired by state unit chief Jitu Patwari and AICC General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh at the Indira Bhawan headquarters of the Congress on Thursday.
The key meeting held on the day was a conclave of the Political Affairs Committee. The State Executive, Permanent Invitees, and Special Invitees of the Congress state unit also met in two sessions. The party said that discussions were held to strengthen the Congress organisation in the state by revitalising the grassroots at booth, mandal, sector, block, and district levels.
The meetings discussed the formation of Ward Congress Committees in all urban local bodies, following which Mohalla Congress Committees will be established, with each committee covering 30 to 40 households per booth.Members of the Mohalla Congress Committees will also be part of the booth committees.
Additionally, the formation of Gram Panchayat Congress Committees at the village level was discussed, with members of these committees also being members of the booth committees.The meeting also covered the tenure of Block Congress Committee and District Congress Committee presidents and filling vacancies for PCC and AICC delegates.
A key decision was made to hold the State Congress representatives’ conference between February 20 and March 20 during the forthcoming year.
Discussions were also held on training programs for Congress officials at various levels, with party leaders outlining their responsibilities and roles.A host of top Congress leaders, including former ministers, former MPs, and legislators, attended the maiden conclave since the announcement of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Speaking to the media, Patwari said that discussions over the two-day schedule of meetings will reinvigorate party workers and give direct focus and energy to party programs in the future.The party meetings have triggered speculations over the names of new District Congress Presidents who are likely to be appointed soon.
