The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee organised an exhibition of pictures from the freedom movement of Mahatma Gandhi to his becoming the Congress President on the premises of Congress Bhawan Ranchi on Thursday on the occasion of the centenary celebrations going on across the country on the completion of 100 years of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi becoming the Congress President. Congress leaders, workers and general public in large numbers observed these pictures related to Gandhi and understood the relevance of Gandhi.
A seminar was also organized on Gandhi's thoughts and ideals at the Congress headquarters, in which State Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore was present as the chief guest.
Senior Congress leaders, presidents and officials of the leading organization department, district presidents and officials were present in the seminar meeting. The seminar was chaired by Rama Khalkho and conducted by Ranchi Rural District President Dr. Rakesh Kiran Mahato and the vote of thanks was given by Pradeep Tulsyan. State Congress office in-charge Abhilash Sahu and co-in-charge Rajan Verma welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet.
Addressing the seminar, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore said that Mahatma Gandhi was a unique person who advocated non-violent methods to solve social, economic, political and religious problems in this modern world. Gandhiji believed that violence is wrong in principle and it is everyone's duty to oppose it. One wrong cannot be corrected by another wrong.
He said that Gandhi is famous in world history as the prophet of Satyagraha but Gandhian Satyagraha can be carried out only by people imbued with goodwill who work for public welfare. He said that it is sad that the way the central government is talking about changing Gandhi's ideas and the Constitution today is not right. This country belongs to Gandhi and this country will develop only when we will be able to maintain the relevance of Gandhiji and Congress is always ready for this.
Media in-charge of the State Congress Committee Rakesh Sinha said that this centenary celebration was organised in all the districts of the state and for this event, State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh appointed observers in all the districts and all the observers went to the districts under their charge and worked to successfully conduct the grandeur of the centenary celebration.
At the end of the seminar, two minutes of silence was observed on the demise of senior Congress leaders Manishanker Tiwari and Asif Naeem and prayers were offered for the peace of their souls.
The programme was attended by hundreds of Congressmen including Dr Jaiprakash Gupta, Kumar Gaurav, Gunjan Singh, Alok Dubey, Vinay Sinha Deepu, Dr Rajesh Gupta, Abhilash Sahu, Rajan Verma, Rakesh Sinha, Satish Paul Munjani, KK Giri, and several others.
