Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday gave directions to officials to ensure speedy punishment to the accused in crimes against women and children through effective advocacy so that the victimised section of society gets justice in time.
Additional Director General of Police (Prosecution) Dipesh Juneja, while giving this information, said that the prosecution directorate had started efforts to record the statements of witnesses using the facility of video conferencing.
He also said that in the second fortnight of last month, the testimonies of 275 witnesses were recorded through video-conferencing in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The ADG (Prosecution) also disclosed that the difficulties of the general public would be overcome by recording the statements of witnesses through video-conferencing.
By recording the statements of witnesses through video-conferencing, along with the time of the court, the time of the witnesses and government money will also be saved, the percentage of testimony of retired government employees will increase further and they will not have to bother to testify in other districts.
