In a significant move aimed at safeguarding students from the soaring temperatures, the Joint Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, Nandkishore Lal, has issued a directive on Wednesday. The new order mandates that all schools in the state will conduct classes only until 11:30 AM.
The directive, which has been communicated to all concerned officials, states that due to the severe heatwave affecting the state, classes for students from Kindergarten (KG) to Class 12 will be held from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM until further notice. This applies to all categories of schools, including government, non-government aided/non-aided, minority, and private institutions.
According to the order, private schools must adhere to the provisions of the Right to Information (RTI) Act and manage operations in accordance with their respective guidelines. The directive is effective immediately, and prior orders on school timings have been revised accordingly.
"The decision has been taken in view of the extreme heat conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of students," the order stated. "All concerned authorities are requested to comply with this order promptly."
The departmental in-charge secretary has approved this decision, underscoring the administration's commitment to addressing the challenges posed by the current weather conditions.
School authorities and parents are advised to make the necessary adjustments to accommodate the new schedule. The education department will continue to monitor the situation and issue further instructions as needed.
When contacted, East Singhbhum DC, Ananya Mittal confirmed that a directive has been issued over change in the school timings. He also clarified no orders have been given over closure of the schools due to summer heat.
