Massive traffic snarls in key stretches of the national Capital and its adjoining regions exacerbated the problems of Delhiites on Rakshabandhan as they tried to reach their loved ones to celebrate the festival.

Traffic congestion caused slow movement of vehicles in different parts of the city including Vaishali, Pitampura, Kalindi Kunj flyover, Mangolpuri,  Mehrauli Badarpur road and Janakpuri, along with several other parts of the city. Commuters complained about being stuck for more than an hour in traffic while some also stated that traffic personnel were no were to seen to manage the situation with traffic lights also not working in various areas.

Sharing their frustrations with the situation on the roads of the city on social media, a user took to X requesting Indigo airline to arrange an alternate option as his family won’t be able to catch the flight due to the huge traffic in Delhi. “My sister and her husband are flying with you today from Delhi. But they are stuck in traffic for the last three hours and they are not going to reach on time. So can you please arrange alternate options for us? It is totally uncertain,” he tweeted.

Another added that for the last one hour he is stuck in West Enclave Pitampura while there is no traffic police at all. “I was on my way to my sister’s house who has been fasting until she ties me rakhi but here I am stuck here unable to see her anytime soon. Traffic police, where are you?” he said.

A 40 year old women who was making her way back home after visiting her friends on the holiday complained that it took her more than 80 minutes to travel 17 km on a national highway. “I sometime don’t feel like this is the capital. This is a result of mismanagement,” she claimed.
