Cold winds and cloudy skies marked weather conditions in the state capital on Friday, even as the mercury continued to dip in other parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Temperatures in the city ranged between 34 and 16.4 degrees on the Celsius scale.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that chilly nights and mild cold winds are prevailing, and this trend is expected to continue over the next few days.
Overall, Madhya Pradesh is experiencing a decrease in temperatures, with the mercury hovering around 20 degrees or lower in most parts. Pachmarhi remains the coldest in the state, with the mercury diving to around 15 degrees Celsius in the picturesque mountain town.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that cold conditions may intensify over the next few days, with a continuous decline in night temperatures resulting in an incremental difference between day and night temperatures.
The monsoon in Madhya Pradesh entered on June 21 and departed on October 15, after which rain spells occurred due to cyclonic circulation. The trend of cold nights and hot days has been consistent over the past decade.
Looking ahead to November, significant variability in weather is expected. Night temperatures may drop to as low as 8 degrees, with fog anticipated in the mornings as humidity from the monsoon fades. The average temperatures are around 29.9 degrees during the day and 15 degrees at night, with a notable decrease in night temperatures observed in recent years.
There is also a possibility of rainfall in Madhya Pradesh in November, with an average of around 8.7 mm, maintaining the month’s cloudy conditions. Active cyclonic circulation is reported over northeast and west Assam, which may further influence weather patterns in the region.
