Chirag Paswan discusses seat sharing with Biswa Sarma

Friday, 18 October 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP, AJSU Party, JD(U), LJP-Ram Vilas Party will contest the elections together in the NDA fold this time . Union Minister and LJP chief Chirag Paswan and Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP election co-in-charge Hemant Biswa Sarma met on Thursday to reach a consensus on seat sharing.

It is being discussed that in the talks between Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chirag Paswan, there has been an effort to reach a consensus on contesting elections together in Jharkhand. BJP is ready to give one seat to Chirag Paswan's party.

However, Chirag's party has staked claim on five seats. Chirag Paswan's party wants to contest elections on Dhanbad, Latehar, Chatra, Chhatarpur and Jamshedpur West seats. Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced in a conversation with the media in Ranchi that the seat sharing will be announced after Chirag Paswan returns from abroad.

It is said that Himanta Biswa Sarma is trying to convince Chirag Paswan to contest only one seat under the NDA alliance. While going to the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Haryana, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chirag Paswan also discussed about the Jharkhand elections in the special plane.

Earlier on Wednesday, two MPs of Chirag Paswan's party met Himanta Biswa Sarma and Babulal Marandi. They expressed their desire to contest at least three seats. It is believed that Himanta has convinced Chirag to contest on a single seat.

On the other hand, JD(U) is demanding an increase in the two seats being given by BJP in Jharkhand. Due to this, the announcement of seat sharing is getting delayed. It is discussed that BJP wants to give only two seats to JD(U) in Jharkhand, Jamshedpur West and Tamar seat.

JD(U) state president Khiru Mahato says that the party is ready to contest on 11 seats in the state.

BJP has almost finalized the seat sharing formula in Jharkhand NDA. It is likely that BJP will contest 68 out of 81 seats, while AJSU is expected to get 10 seats. Earlier three seats were going to JDU's account. Now, to adjust LJP, JDU can be given two seats and LJP Ram Vilas can be given one seat.
