Chhattisgarh mountaineer conquers Mount Kosciuszko

Chhattisgarh mountaineer Rahul Gupta has hoisted the Indian flag on Mount Kosciuszko, the highest peak in Australia.

He conquered the mountain situated at 2, 7,310 feet above sea level on Independence Day on Thursday.

Gupta was among 11 other mountaineers from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh who participated in the climb led by Narendra Yadav of Haryana.

Gupta, from Ambikapur city, has scaled eight national and six international mountains. He is the first from Chhattisgarh to do a winter expedition at the national level.
