Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar made a village near Orchha his workplace and ignited the flame of the freedom movement from there. Many warriors including Maharaja Chhatrasal fought against the Mughals, Rani Lakshmi Bai fought against the British and the fighters of Bundelkhand started the Satyagraha movement.
In the field of literature, the names of folk poets like Vrindavan Lal Verma, Keshav, Maithili Sharan Gupta or Jagnik, Ishwari, in the field of music, from Rai Praveen to Dhrupad singer Asghari Bai Padma Shri are notable.
