BSP: Some people pressurising mother of gang-rape victim

Bahujan Samaj Party, upping the ante against the Samajwadi Party, said that some people were pressurising the mother of the Ayodhya gang-rape victim to withdraw the complaint and make a compromise.

BSP state president Vishwanath Pal on Sunday alleged that the victim’s mother made this allegation when a delegation of the party visited her home on Saturday.

“A delegation of the BSP met the family of the girl in her village on Saturday. The mother of the girl told the BSP leaders that some people were asking her to make a compromise in the case. We assured her that justice will be done and she should not come under pressure or threat of anyone,” Pal said.

He said the BSP delegation also visited the women’s hospital where the 12-year-old girl was undergoing treatment and took a review of her condition from the hospital superintendent.

As per the police, main accused Moid Khan and Raju Khan had raped the girl two months ago and recorded the heinous act. Moid Khan is a Samajwadi Party leader and close associate of SP’s Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad.

The accused were arrested on July 30 and on August 3, the administration razed Moid Khan’s illegal bakery to the ground. Moreover, an illegal boundary wall built around a public pond was also demolished.

On the SP’s demand for a DNA test in the case, the BSP state chief said that the victim’s testimony was enough. “There is no need for such a test.”

Raising questions on the administration, Pal said that it ignored the victim’s complaint for two months and only on the intervention of BSP, the FIR was registered.

Pal accused Moid Khan of being involved in grabbing the land of a pond and a mazaar, adding that the SP is shielding the culprit, who is the city unit president of the party.

“There should be no politics on the issue. The SP has not sacked the accused yet. The party is defending him,” he said.
