Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has introduced a Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for its contract workers, emphasizing its commitment to their welfare and that of their families. The scheme was officially launched by BSL's Director In-Charge, Birendra Kumar Tiwari, who distributed policy certificates to four beneficiaries during a formal event.
The insurance policy, secured through the Bokaro Welfare Trust—a registered trust for contract workers—provides an annual coverage of ₹10 lakh in case of accidental death. The scheme currently covers approximately 12,000 contract workers. Moving forward, contractors will be required to enroll their workers under this policy before issuing gate passes for any work order at BSL.
During the event, Director In-Charge Birendra Kumar Tiwari described the scheme as a significant step toward ensuring the security and welfare of contract workers and their families. He also appreciated the Contractors' Association for their active support in implementing various worker welfare initiatives.
Senior executives, including CR Mahapatra, Suresh Rangani, Rajan Prasad, Rajshree Banerjee, and other dignitaries, attended the event along with representatives from the Contractors' Association.
