In a commendable initiative under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), free study materials and uniforms were distributed to Birhor children at D.A.V. Ispat Public School, Sector 2-C. The distribution was carried out by the school's principal, Mrs. Mausumi Malik.
The event saw the presence of senior officials from BSL's CSR department, including Senior Manager (CSR) Neeraj Kumar Tripathi, Deputy Manager (CSR) Ashok Kumar, Suraj Chandra Tiwari, and the warden of Birhor Hostel, Bahadur Singh. Additionally, notable attendees included Bipin Rai, ARO, D.A.V. Jharkhand Zone, and Satendra Kumar, Principal of D.A.V. Dumri.
Under the Gyan Jyoti Scheme, BSL has adopted 12 Birhor children in its third batch for the year 2024. This initiative, which began in 2001, aims to integrate the children of the impoverished and endangered Birhor tribe into mainstream society. BSL/CSR provides free lodging and meals at Birhor Bal Niwas, Trainee's Hostel #01, and education at D.A.V. Ispat Public School, Sector 2-C.
