Saturday, 17 February 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

After Bairagarh (Sant Hirdaram Nagar) of Bhopal, now the removal of BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) has started from Roshanpura to Kamla Park also. Removal of BRTS started on Friday afternoon. After removing the railing from one side, the cement concrete is being broken by drilling and after this the road will be repaired.

There is a plan to remove the portion from Lalghati to the Collectorate from today itself. At the same time, traffic on the mixed lane from Halalpur bus stand to the cemetery is expected to start on Sunday. The railing and dedicated lane have been removed from here.

Due to the BRTS corridor from Roshanpura to near Kamla Park, there is a traffic jam near Kamla Park. In this part connecting the new and old city, vehicles remain stuck on the mixed lanes and the corridor remains empty. The arch bridge on the small pond is proving useless. The work of removing the corridor in this party started on Friday.

In January, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, after seeing the presentation, had given instructions to the district administration to remove BRTS. Started from Bairagarh on January 20. Most of the BRTS corridor from Halalpur bus stand towards Bairagarh has been removed.

PWD is doing the work of removing the BRTS corridor in Bairagarh area, while the responsibility of removing the corridor in the rest of the city is of the Municipal Corporation. The corporation had called tenders of three different packages for three different stretches from Roshanpura to Kamla Park, Lalghati to Collectorate and RRL to Misrod. Of these, two tenders have been issued and work on one has also been started.

A total of Rs 2.85 crore will be spent on removing the corridor from Roshanpura to Kamla Park. The corridor from Lalghati to Collectorate will be removed for Rs 3.10 crore.

Earlier on Thursday, the corporation had approved the tender for removing the corridor from Roshanpura to Kamla Park and Lalghati part of the collectorate. The tender for removing the corridor from RRL to Misrod has been sent to MIC for approval.

Corridor removal work has been going on in the Bairagarh area since January 20. Along with removing the corridor, asphalting is also being done here and dividers are also being made. According to PWD engineers, by Sunday, traffic will start on a mixed lane in the 2 km stretch from Halalpur bus stand to the cemetery. The entire corridor of the Bairagarh area is expected to be removed by the first week of March.
