Punjab launches special campaign to resolve pending dispute-free mutations by year-end
Chandigarh: Taking a tough stance on administrative delays, the Punjab Government has announced a comprehensive campaign to expedite the resolution of pending dispute-free land mutation cases. The state Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Hardip Singh Mundian on Friday emphasized that delays beyond the stipulated time frame of 45 days will not be tolerated, and strict action will follow against negligent officials. Mundian highlighted the government’s firm decision to hold accountable any officer or employee responsible for unresolved dispute-free mutations after December 31, 2024. The Minister revealed that despite clear instructions from the state, several cases remain pending for months, with some even exceeding a year. This inefficiency, he stated, has caused unnecessary inconvenience to citizens and will no longer be overlooked. To address the backlog, a special campaign will run across villages and cities in December, supervised by Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and Tehsildars. The campaign aims to settle all pending dispute-free mutations by year-end. The Revenue Department has directed officials to prioritize these cases, ensuring resolutions within a month and adhering to the mandatory 45-day timeline for fresh applications.
Punjab to launch women-centric awareness camps, state-level event for PwDs

Announcing the initiative, Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Friday emphasized the state’s commitment to empowering women and enhancing their access to healthcare and job prospects. In tandem with these efforts, the state will commemorate the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ on December 3 with a grand event in Faridkot. The event will honour the individuals and organizations championing the welfare of persons with disabilities, alongside highlighting the government’s comprehensive initiatives for their empowerment.
Foundation Stone for Punjab’s Largest Lift Irrigation Scheme laid
Sri Anandpur Sahib/Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Friday laid the foundation stone of Punjab’s largest lift irrigation scheme in Samlah village, Changar region, under the Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly Constituency. This Rs 90-crore project aims to bring canal water to irrigate 3,300 acres of semi-mountainous agricultural land and promises completion within six months. Bains, addressing a gathering of residents from over a dozen villages, shared his long-standing commitment to resolving the water scarcity that has plagued the Changar region for decades. He revealed that securing approvals from 23 departments and the Union Government delayed the project by over 18 months, but the work has finally begun, fulfilling his heartfelt dream. He explained that the project would utilize 10 pump sets to irrigate farmlands, ending the seasonal migration of residents forced to abandon their homes and crops due to water shortages. He highlighted the devastating impact of wild animals on abandoned fields and said the scheme would transform the agricultural prospects of the region.

Chandigarh/Faridkot: Punjab Government has embarked on an ambitious mission to ensure the complete utilization of dam and canal water for irrigation while reducing dependence on groundwater and electricity. Announcing this, the state’s Water Resources Minister Brinder Kumar Goyal on Friday unveiled plans to renovate canals, minors, and watercourses across the state, focusing on conserving natural resources and boosting agricultural productivity. During the inauguration of two newly constructed steel bridges on the Sirhind Feeder and Rajasthan Feeder at Machaki Mall Singh Road, costing Rs 10.24 crore, Goyal highlighted the government’s commitment to modernizing Punjab’s irrigation network. He praised the district administration and officials for completing the bridges four months ahead of schedule, vastly improving connectivity for Faridkot and neighboring districts.
