Mayawati accuses Congress & BJP of trying to end reservation

Palwal:  Calling upon a gathering to elect the INLD-BSP alliance in the State, BSP Supremo Mayawati on Friday accused the Congress and the BJP of trying to end reservation, and following policies that were anti-Dalit and anti-poor. Seeking a caste-based census, she said a political change was needed to continue reservation.  Speaking at an election rally organised jointly by the INLD-BSP alliance at Prithla in Palwal, Mayawati focused her speech on the issue of reservation and the exploitation of the scheduled caste and backward communities. Attacking both parties, she said she had been concerned about the fate of reservation after the recent judgment of the Supreme Court.  Claiming that the Congress and the INDIA bloc managed to get votes of Dalits and the poor on the pretext of its slogans or assurances during the Lok Sabha polls this year, she said the party stood exposed completely as it had not made any move to bring a bill in the Parliament regarding the SC judgment given on August 1.
She said both the BJP and Congress had still been playing with the sentiments of Dalits and the poor by making false claims that they would not let reservations be ended. Mayawati said if the INLD-BSP government came to power in Haryana, it would be able to keep the matter in abeyance till a Bill was passed by the Parliament. She called out Rahul Gandhi for his reported statement on the reservation while stating that the BJP had also been trying to mislead people.

The people are bringing Congress to power. She said that the BJP government is misusing agencies like the ED and others for political purposes. Even the courts have commented on this, but they persist in their ways. Political rivals are being harassed through the fear of investigative agencies. She was addressing a large public rally in support of Congress candidate Shishpal Keharwala at the Kalanwali grain market  Selja said that in the last 10 years of BJP's rule, their true face has been revealed to the people and every section of society is suffering from inflation, corruption, and lawlessness. Every group, including farmers, has faced oppression for raising their demands.
