CM Saini Listens to Public Grievances at Naraingarh Grain Market
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday listened to the public grievances during a Jansamvad programme held at Naraingarh Grain Market. He also announced a grant of Rs. 10 lakh for Each Gram Panchayat and Rs. 10 crore for Naraingarh Municipal Committee for development works. The Chief Minister listened to complaints from over 200 people and provided necessary directions to officers for their quick resolution. He said that each document submitted by the public would be thoroughly examined, and the status of the complaint resolution process would be communicated via mobile phone. He urged the Sarpanches to promptly report any major demands from their villages, assuring that these would be addressed without delay.
Basements of coaching institutes checked in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: In the wake of tragic death of three students in the basement of a coaching institute in Delhi, the Enforcement team of Estate Office, Chandigarh inspected various prominent coaching institutes of Sector 34 on Tuesday. The basements of some of these coaching institutes were being utilized as reading room or for other ancillary activities, which are otherwise not permissible for habitable use as per building bylaws. Officials of Estate office directed that such basements should not be used for habitable purposes against the Building bylaws. Such basements were directed to be vacated immediately in presence of officials of Estate Office and notices are being served to all coaching institutions not to use basements for any coaching classes or related activities. Rest of the coaching institutes of the city will also be inspected in to ensure that the safety of students is not compromised, a statement said.
Hry CM approves enhancement in pension under Scheme for Matribhasha Satyagrahis of the Hindi Andolan-1957
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has given approval to increase pension for the Matribhasha Satyagrahis of the Hindi Andolan-1957 from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month. An official spokesperson stated that Department of Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture disburses a monthly pension of Rs. 15,000 to 161 Matribhasha Satyagrahis or their surviving spouses. With the proposed increase to Rs. 20,000 per month, there will be an additional annual expenditure of Rs. 96.60 lakh, raising the total annual budget of around Rs. 3.86 crore.
Hry Minister announces application deadline for transfer of ownership of government properties
Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies Subhash Sudha on Tuesday announced that the application deadline for the transfer of ownership of government properties, which have been under rent/lease/occupation for more than 20 years, has been extended until September 30, 2024, by the Urban Local Bodies Department. He stated that, according to the special policy created for all government departments/ boards/ corporations/ authorities, the deadline for deciding on pending applications to sell their properties (shops/houses/other properties) through rent/lease for 20 years or more and for allowing new applications on the portal has been extended to September 30.
Punjab achieves significant reduction in child malnutrition rates
Chandigarh: Punjab has achieved remarkable progress in reducing malnutrition among children, with stunting decreasing from 22.08 percent in 2022 to 17.65 percent in 2024, wasting dropping from 9.54 percent to 3.17 percent, and the percentage of underweight children falling from 12.58 percent to 5.57 percent. State’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Tuesday convened a meeting with District Program Officers and Child Development Project Officers at MGSIPA to discuss key departmental schemes and addressing pressing issues. During the meeting, Kaur highlighted the substantial achievements in reducing malnutrition and pointed that the Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi confirmed these advancements in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on July 26. “Punjab has outperformed neighboring states, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan, in combating child malnutrition, according to official statistics from the ‘POSHAN Tracker’. This mobile-based application launched by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing cases of stunting, wasting, and underweight children,” she said.
