Haryana CM's wife Suman Saini hands over cheque for financial assistance to farmer's daughter
Chandigarh: On behalf of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, his wife Suman Saini on Friday presented a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh from Chief Minister's petty grant quota as financial assistance to a farmer's daughter. Farmer Krishan Kumar, a resident of Khanpur Rajputan village of Ambala district, suffered crop damage after heavy rains due to which he was facing a financial crisis. Kumar had taken a loan for farming but due to the crop damage, the burden of debt had increased further. Due to this, he was facing difficulties in taking care of his family. His family had requested the Chief Minister for help. Saini promised assistance to the farmer and the farmer’s daughter Swati reached the Chief Minister's residence and received a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
357 Bus Conductors to be appointed soon in Himachal: Deputy CM
Shimla: Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri while chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) on Friday, held a detailed discussion on reducing the expenditure and increasing the revenue of the corporation. He said that a decision has been taken in the meeting to increase the honorarium of the Daily wagers from Rs. 375 to Rs. 400 adding that the process of appointing 357 conductors has also been completed and soon they will be providing their services. He stated that HRTC was going to complete 50 years of its existence and it was a matter of pride that the corporation's buses were providing services to 70 lakh people in the state. Agnihotri announced that soon the HRTC will purchase 297 electric vehicles. The tenders will be floated soon besides 24 old Volvo buses will be replaced with the new ones. The discount scheme on bus fares will continue as before. He said that 100 tempo travelers would be purchased and introduced on the specific routes to ensure a comfortable journey to the commuters. Besides 250 diesel buses will be purchased in the near future, he remarked. Managing Director of HRTC, Rohan Chand Thakur assured that the corporation's functioning will be improved and better services would be provided.

Chandigarh: Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, presented his report card marking two years of service and emphasized the pivotal role of cooperative federalism and cordial Centre-State relations in fostering Punjab’s progress. Sahney stated that the various problems faced by Punjab like burgeoning debt, infrastructure development, industrial projects for job creation, crop diversification etc. can only be achieved with support of the centre. He reiterated that Centre should also consider a special package for Punjab as they are considering for states like Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha as Punjab has also passed through turbulent times of terrorism and needs financial restructuring.
Sunita Kejriwal to launch 'Kejriwal's guarantees' for Haryana today
Chandigarh: Ahead of the Vidhan Sabha election in the State, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita will launch "Kejriwal's guarantees" for Haryana on Saturday, AAP's state unit president Sushil Gupta on Friday said. Gupta said, "We don't make promises like the BJP and Congress, we give guarantees. These will be Arvind Kejriwal's guarantees, not (Narendra) Modi's hollow guarantees." When asked if these guarantees will include that Haryana should get SYL waters, Gupta quipped, "Haryana should get water. Every state should get water. Distribution of water is the job of the Central government, the prime minister." The Aam Aadmi Party had on Thursday said it will contest all 90 assembly seats in Haryana, claiming people want "badlav" (change) and are looking at it with great hope. For the upcoming assembly polls, Gupta said the party will hold 45 meetings Vidhan Sabha segment wise.
Hry Govt invokes section 108 of Electricity Act, 2003 to give relief to farming community
Chandigarh: To provide relief to the agricultural community, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led State Government on Friday directed the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) to amend the HERC Electricity Supply Code Regulations, 2014. This directive follows the observation that recent amendments have imposed an undue financial burden on farmers. The HERC, through its 4th amendment to the Electricity Supply Code Regulations, 2014, notified on January 15, 2024, had revised the cost-sharing mechanism for the replacement and repair of distribution transformers (DT). As per the amendment, no fee will be charged from the consumers for replacing or repairing the transformer in case of being replaced/repaired for any reason including theft.
Hry Minister suspends Motor Vehicle Officer for negligence in duty
Chandigarh: Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Mool Chand Sharma on Friday suspended the Motor Vehicle Officer (MVO) of the District Regional Transport Office for failing to perform duties correctly and ignoring essential meetings during the hearing of complaints at the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Charkhi Dadri. During the meeting, a complaint regarding overloading was raised before the Minister, highlighting that thousands of trucks pass through Dadri daily, most of which are overloaded, causing road damage and accidents, resulting in loss of lives. Despite this, no steps are being taken by the Regional Transport Office. Sharma, while taking strict cognizance of the complaint, ordered the suspension of the MVO for negligence in duty and absence from crucial meetings, stating that merely issuing challans is not a solution to the overloading problem. Officers should strictly prohibit overloading.
