Bus overturns in Himachal;  Four killed

Shimla: Four people were killed while three others sustained serious injuries when a bus overturned on the Kuddu-Giltari road in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district early Friday. The Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus, with seven persons on board, was on its way to Giltari from Kuddu when the accident took place around 6:45 am near Chauri Kainchi after the driver lost control over the vehicle. While two persons identified as Birma Devi and Dhan Shah died on the spot, bus driver Karam Das and conductor Rakesh Kumar succumbed to injuries on way to hospital, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, said. The injured have been admitted to a hospital. "Preliminary enquiry has been ordered in the accident", Managing Director, HRTC, Rohan Chand Thakur said. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Education Minister Rohit Thakur, who is also the local MLA, have condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
 
Cabinet meeting in Haryana on June 27

Chandigarh: Haryana Cabinet will meet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on June 27 at 12.00 noon in the main committee room, fourth floor, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, a government spokesperson said on Friday.

BJP Govt playing with future of youth through paper leak, recruitment scams, alleges Hooda

Sonipat/Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday alleged that the BJP government is playing with the future of youth through paper leak and recruitment scams. “Be it NEET and UGC NET at the national level, or a series of recruitment scams happening in Haryana, BJP's misdeeds are being exposed at the national and state level,” he added while addressing the Dhanyani Karyakarta Sammelan in Sonipat. In his address, Hooda said today Congress is protesting against NEET and NET paper scams across the country. “In Haryana, Congress has been continuously raising this issue from the streets to the Assembly, but BJP never learned a lesson from its actions. Therefore, the public taught BJP a lesson in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Chd MC Commissioner reviews PGI’s fire safety and waste management issues

Chandigarh: To ensure the safety of patients and staff, PGIMER Director Dr Vivek Lal and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Anindita Mitra jointly reviewed the key issues and compliances with fire safety regulations at the institution with the authorities of PGIMER along with officers, Engineers and Doctors of PGI and senior officers of MC, Chandigarh. During the meeting, the Director PGIMER apprised the MCC about the fire safety measures taken including completion of Fire audit of all buildings of institute by CBRI, Roorkee, and works for one building for fire compliance which has been approved and contracts being concluded shortly. On the issue of solid and biomedical waste management, the Director apprised that the work of Sewerage Treatment Plant  has been entrusted to CPWD as a deposit work which will be completed by December this year.

Yoga camps to enhance health & efficiency of employees: Hry CS

Chandigarh: To promote wellness and enhance work efficiency among employees, Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad on Friday announced  organising special yoga camps within the premises of the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. Addressing the officers and employees at the Yoga Camp on the occasion of 10th International Yoga Day at Haryana Niwas, Prasad emphasized that yoga not only improves physical health but also strengthens mental resilience, essential for professionals working long hours in office environments. Highlighting the significance of the inaugural yoga camp for the Civil Secretariat staff, Prasad urged all officers and employees to embrace yoga as a daily routine. He stressed that regular practice of yoga asanas and pranayama would not only boost their efficiency but also enhance their immunity.

Punjab and Haryana HC celebrates International Day of Yoga-2024

Chandigarh: The International Day of Yoga-2024 was celebrated at the premises of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia. The day was observed as per guidelines received from Union Ministry of Ayush, with Judges, members of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, officers and officials of the High Court participated in the event, displaying enthusiasm while performing different Yoga asanas and meditation.

 Punjab Govt releases Rs 94.35L to 185 SC beneficiaries in Malerkotla

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has allocated Rs 94.35 lakh to 185 beneficiaries belonging to the Scheduled Castes in Malerkotla district. Sharing the information, the state’s Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that Rs 1.71 crore has already been allocated to 337 beneficiaries from backward classes and economically weaker sections. “Financial benefits were allocated to 57 beneficiaries in December 2022, 26 in January 2023, 51 in February 2023 and 51 in March 2023, totaling 185 beneficiaries,” she said.

 Govt operationalized 5 automotive, driving skill centers in Punjab

Tarn Taran: Punjab Government has established five Automotive and Driving Skill Centers across the state, providing accessible driving skills training to those in need. These centers are located in Bathinda, Roopnagar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran. Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, during his visit to Tarn Taran Automotive and Driving Skill Center, run by the Red Cross Society, on Friday, inspected the facilities and distributed certificates to trainees. He mentioned that this center offers a two-day training program on road safety rules.
