Himachal CM meets J P Nadda seeks additional aid for Bulk Drug Park
Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged Union Health Minister J P Nadda to provide additional financial aid for the Bulk Drug Park beng developed in Himachal Pradesh's Una. Sukhu called on Nadda in New Delhi during which he highlighted the Congress-led state government's commitment to enhancing the health sector through improved infrastructure and services, an official release issued here on Thursday said. The chief minister requested him for additional financial assistance for the Bulk Drug Park, citing its critical role in the state's economic development and its potential to generate local employment opportunities. He emphasised the need for state-of-the-art medical technology in hospitals to reduce the need for residents to seek advanced medical care outside the state. The Bulk Drug Park is proposed to come up on 570 hectares of land at an estimated cost of Rs 1,923 crore. He also demanded funds for completing the infrastructure and other pending works at medical colleges in Nahan, Chamba and Hamirpur. Sukhu said quality medical education is being imparted to students in Himachal Pradesh and urged him to support graduating medical students, especially nurses, in finding placements within the country and abroad. The Union minister assured of all possible assistance to the state from the Centre.
Himachal Met warns of heavy showers in 4 districts on July 21
Shimla: The weather office in Shimla Thursday issued an 'orange' alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas of Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra and Mandi districts on July 21. It also issued a 'yellow' alert of heavy rains across the state on July 19, 20 and 22, and cautioned of damage to plantations, horticulture and standing crops, vulnerable structures, kutcha houses and huts, besides disruption in traffic and waterlogging in the low-lying areas. The state has witnessed heavy rains since Wednesday. Dharamshala recorded the highest downpour at 143 mm, followed by Ghamroor with 53 mm, Baijnath with 36 mm, Olinda with 32.2 mm, Palampur with 22.4 mm and Kangra with 19.5 mm, according to the meteorological office. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, the state has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 186 crore and 31 people have died in rain-related incidents, according to the state emergency operation centre. Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti recorded a minimum temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the state, while Bilaspur was hottest during the day at 37.9 degrees Celsius.
Physical Measurement Test for male constables in Hry to continue until July 23
Chandigarh: Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman Himmat Singh on Thursday said that for the 5,000 male constable (general duty) posts in Haryana Police, a total of eight times the number of candidates will undergo the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). Following this, a PMT schedule for 1,000 posts of female constable (general duty) will also be released. Eight times the number of candidates relative to the number of posts will be called for the PMT, he added.
Rs 17 crores allocated for renovation of 1000 Anganwadi Centres in Haryana: Aseem Goel
Chandigarh: Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Aseem Goel on Thursday announced that the buildings of Anganwadis will be repaired as needed, and new buildings will be constructed in several villages. In the first phase, Rs. 17 crore have been released for the repair and renovation of 1000 Anganwadi buildings. He mentioned that in the future, while the existing infrastructure of Anganwadis will be strengthened, new buildings for Anganwadis and the establishment of Panjiri plants will also be undertaken. Besides this, a multipurpose departmental building will be constructed in Ambala.
Khattar unveils book 'Wired for Success'
New Delhi/Chandigarh: At New Maharashtra Sadan, Union Minister for Power and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday unveiled the book 'Wired for Success' authored by Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur. The book chronicles the transformation of Haryana Power Distribution Corporations from substantial losses to robust profitability. Reflecting on his tenure beginning in 2014 as Chief Minister, Khattar described the dire state of Haryana's power companies, with only 105 villages receiving 24-hour electricity and outstanding bills exceeding Rs. 7,000 crore. He emphasised that not paying electricity bills had almost become a norm in rural areas. However, under his administration, this situation was addressed comprehensively.

Jind/Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda on Thursday alleged that the BJP government in Haryana has become a government of announcements. Instead of making empty statements, the BJP should talk about its work in the last 10 years, and seek votes from the people on the basis of the work done, he added. Deepender carried out a padyatra in Julana assembly constituency from the old grain market to the old bus stand via the market under the 'Haryana Mange Hisaab' campaign. He said the BJP’s central leaders are coming to the state, but instead of listing 11 works of their government, the Chief Minister of the state is asking 11 questions to Congress and Hooda ji. Deepender said that the state government’s works are worth 25 paise, and the announcements are worth 10 Rupees, he alleged.
