A bomb has been recovered during excavation in Hahap forest located in Namkum police station area of Ranchi district. The bomb buried in the soil was recovered here on Saturday. The BDS team reached the spot and destroyed the bomb.
Namkum police station in-charge Brahmadev Prasad said that soil excavation work was going on during the construction of a house in Hahap forest, during which a para bomb was recovered from inside the ground. The house owner informed the Namkum police about the matter, after which the bomb disposal squad of Jharkhand Jaguar was sent to the spot and the process of defusing the bomb has been started.
In fact, the area from where the bomb has been recovered has now become quite populated, 10 years ago the Naxalites used to rule this area. In this area, the Naxalites had hidden a large amount of weapons and ammunition, which have been recovered and destroyed long ago. Naxalites used to bury their weapons and ammunition underground, it is suspected that one of these bombs remained buried underground and has now come out after digging the ground.
Experts say that this para bomb is used for lighting. Whenever soldiers go out for searching, they also keep para bombs with them. It is not dangerous. During an encounter, this bomb is released in the sky. It explodes after going a few meters in the sky. The light emitted from it is very bright and spreads very far. Due to which hidden enemies can be seen easily. But, this bomb is not used much in the forests of Bastar, because there are dense forests and bushes here. Therefore, it does not prove effective in Bastar. It is mostly used in open fields.
