Bokaro took a significant step towards a drug-free Jharkhand with the "Run for Drug-Free Jharkhand" marathon, which commenced at Bokaro Airport and concluded at Amrit Park Garga Bridge. The event saw participation from key administrative officials, including DPLR Menka, SDO Chas Om Prakash Gupta, Civil Surgeon Dr. Dinesh Kumar, and other district-level officers, school students, and the general public.
Drug abuse has become a grave issue, affecting not just individuals but families and society at large. The Jharkhand government is committed to eradicating this menace. The increasing prevalence of drug use among the youth is alarming, and public awareness is the only way to curb this societal problem. To promote a drug-free Bokaro, Jharkhand, and India, the District Information and Public Relations Department organized the "Run for Drug-Free Jharkhand" marathon, which saw significant public participation.
The marathon began at Bokaro Airport and ended at Amrit Park Garga Bridge. Speaking at the event, DPLR Menka emphasized the importance of saying no to drugs and yes to life. She highlighted the week-long awareness campaign from June 19 to June 26, during which various departments are organizing activities to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
SDO Om Prakash Gupta called drug abuse a global challenge. He stressed the importance of such initiatives to educate potential victims about the destructive impact of drug use. He mentioned that statewide campaigns are underway to inform people about the dangers of drug abuse, helping them protect themselves from falling into this trap.
DPRO Saket Kumar Pandey noted the severe physical and mental effects of drug abuse, which can affect individuals of any age group. He urged everyone to stay away from drugs.
APRO Avinash Kumar Singh stated that the marathon was organized to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. He administered a pledge to the participants to make every effort to achieve a drug-free Bokaro, Jharkhand, and India.
