BJP State President and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi today launched a major attack on the state government alleging that there was big scam in the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy-2023 held at Jaipal Singh Munda Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. The tournament was held in November last year in which eight Asian women hockey teams participated.

Marandi said that Jharkhand Sports Ministry has also 'played'. Referring to the news published in the newspaper, he said that on the lines of the famous fodder scam of the then Bihar, the state's Sports Directorate has committed a scam of crores in the organization of the Asian Women's Hockey Championship held in Jharkhand last year 2023. The acts of loot are one better than the other.

The scam is as such that the bill for filling diesel in the petrol car was paid. The bill for filling diesel in the battery operated e-rickshaw was also paid. Not only this, food served was at the rate of Rs 19 thousand per plate, which is many times more than the rate of the most expensive hotel in the Capital.

The BJP leader said that in the execution of the tender for the event, the fixed rates were manipulated to give the tender to the favorite agency. It is clear from this that huge irregularities have been committed by the Sports Ministry in the organization during the Asian Women's Hockey Championship.

Marandi said that while looting coal, sand and stones and jobs of the youth, the thug alliance government has also dragged the international sports event into corruption. Marandi said that this is a serious case of corruption that has come to light. It is requested that Chief Minister Champai Soren should take cognizance of this and take immediate action and recommend a CBI inquiry into this matter without delay.
