BJP candidate Harshdeep Malhotra on Tuesday secured a win on the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat against the joint AAP and INDIA alliance Kuldeep Kumar with a margin of over 1.24 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
Malhotra replaced the two time MP Gautam Gambhir from the seat following the cricketer’s decision to not contest the elections anymore. The BJP’s former General Secretary has claimed the victory by securing more than 6.63 lakhs votes. On the other hand, AAP’s Kondli MLA managed to secure 5.70 lakh votes. The BSP candidate Mohd. Waqar Choudhary came at the third position with about 10,000 votes.
About 20 candidates were in the fray to win the constituency with eight candidates contesting independently. More than 5,000 voters pressed the NOTA button. BJP supporters and workers celebrated the historic third term to the saffron party in Delhi by distributing saffron themed sweets in the Delhi party office.
