Bhopal may face shortage of petrol and diesel from April 1

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

There may be a shortage of petrol and diesel at the pumps in Bhopal city from April 1 as Reliance Depot, which supplies petrol and diesel to Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum have to follow the order of NGT and supply from bottom loading tankers instead of the existing top loading tankers from April 1.

Petrol pump dealers do not currently have bottom loading tankers. It will take seven to eight months to build a new tanker.

According to petrol dealers, we were informed about the new rule 20 days ago. However, supplies are still being made from Bharat Petroleum depots only through top loading tankers. In such a situation, petrol will be available only in 45 out of 170 petrol pumps in the city.

State President of Madhya Pradesh Petroleum Dealers Association, Ajay Singh said that petrol and diesel will have to be brought from outside. In such a situation, many pump operators will call petrol diesel from other cities including Sagar and Itarsi depots. This may take 48 hours to 72 hours. That means petrol and diesel will be available at the pumps with a difference of one or two days.

Association official Nakul Sharma said that if the companies give us some more time, arrangements can be made.
