For the first time in Bhopal, a petrol pump of Central Jail is going to be started which would be operated by jail prisoners. This pump has been built on Airport Road, right in front of the main gate of the jail.
The inauguration of this petrol pump built with the help of Hindustan Petroleum is scheduled next month. In this petrol pump, 9 prisoners of open jail will look after refilling and other works. While the management work will be in the hands of two guards. For this, training of jail prisoners and guards has also started.
According to Jail Superintendent Rakesh Bhaangre, this petrol pump has been constructed in 9687 square feet. Hindustan Petroleum (HP) has built this petrol pump. The land was given by the Jail Department.
The petrol and diesel required to start this will be taken on loan from HP company. Later this loan will be repaid gradually. This petrol pump will be operated by the prisoners of the open jail and the management guards. To do this work in a better way, the prisoners and guards are being trained.
In the coming time, a proposal is being prepared to operate the petrol pump 24 hours a day in 3 shifts. In case the response is better, going forward, 9 prisoners will work in each shift in this pump, thus 30 prisoners will get employment daily. They will be given wages of about Rs 500 per day by Hindustan Petroleum.
The jail administration had to take NOC from more than half a dozen departments including Municipal Corporation, PWD, Forest Department, SDM and District Collector to operate the petrol pump here. This entire process took about a year.
According to Rakesh Bhangre, Superintendent of Central Jail, the first petrol pump of the jail department was built in Indore city in the year 2020 with the help of India Oil. After this, the petrol pump of the jail department is being operated in Sagar Tikamgarh.
The petrol pump in Bhopal will have all the facilities that are available at other petrol pumps. The rates of petrol and diesel will also remain the same. Just the purpose of starting the petrol pump is a little different.
The committee which is running this petrol pump will help employees in illness with the profit. The children of the employees who are good in studies, but are facing money problems in further education, will help them. It has been started for the welfare of the employees. Whatever profit comes from this, it will be spent by the committee itself.
