BHEL Bhopal organized an awareness session on "Organ Donation" the other day at Viswakarma Hall, HRDC workshop. The session was organized by HR Dept. in coordination with Kasturba Hospital & HRD. The session started with BHEL GEET.
B K Singh, GM (HR) addressed the participants and explained in detail the need of Organ Donation and also that a single person can save life of 7 to 8 persons. He also advised to take online pledge for Organ Donation in Govt. of India website https://pledge.mygov.in/organ-donation.
Dr Alpana Tiwari,Chief Med Services also explained in detail the need of Organ Donation in present world scenario. She told that people donate money, food & shelter, but by donating organ it will be the greatest donation possible in a life time. She explained that in India there is a huge difference between the number of donor and number of receiver waiting for Organ. She also explained that if more number of Indians give their consent for Organ Donation like western countries then in India also more number of patients will be get benefited.
The guest speaker DR RAM NARAYAN HIRANYA, SR. MGR.(SURGERY) of Kasturba Hospital told that India every year nearly 5 lakh people die because of non-availability of organs. He explained in detail the type of organ donation: Live Donation (when the person making the donation is alive) & Cadaver/ Deceased Donation (After the donor dies). He told that we can donate kidney, lungs, intestine, heart, liver, pancreas, Cornea, heart valves, skin, bone marrow, middle ear etc. even our body for medical study. We can give our consent by filling the form -7 as per THOA and submit it to NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization).
DR (MRS) RIMMI SETHI, Sr. Consultant (OPTHALM) explained the need of cornea donation and we can see the world even after our death. Now a day's only a soft upper layer called cornea is taken by the doctors' team which does not deform eyes, so we can also give our consent for eye donation.
There were around 70 participants (Supervisor Trainee & Apprentice Trainees) from HRD Department. The program was coordinated by Prajjal Adak, DGM (HR) & Paritosh Kumar Dalei, Manager (HR) in coordination with Krishna Chandra Singh, Sr. Manager (HRD). The vote of thanks was proposed by ARIF AHMAD SIDDIQUI, AGM (HR).
