A book on Veer Abdul Hamid, the hero of the 1965 India-Pakistan war and Param Vir Chakra awardee, has been written following a suggestion by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat.
The 180-page book details the entire story of the Param Vir Chakra recipient. The book launch is scheduled for July 1 in Ghazipur, where the RSS chief will unveil it.
The event is being organised at the request of Veer Abdul Hamid’s eldest son, Zainul Hasan, who has met Bhagwat twice.
Zainul shared that the book, titled ‘Mere Papa Paramveer Hain’, was authored by Mumbai’s Dr Rama Chandran Srinivasan.
Zainul’s first meeting with Bhagwat in Ghazipur led to the idea of making a film about his father. However, Bhagwat suggested that a book should be written first.
The book launch will coincide with the celebration of the Param Vir Chakra awardee’s birth anniversary on July 1.
Three months ago, Zainul wrote to the RSS chief expressing his desire to meet him and present the book. Shortly after, a message through Lucknow’s pracharak Ramesh confirmed that Mohan Bhagwat would indeed launch the book.
Bhagwat has visited Hathiyaram Math in Ghazipur twice, where he held deep discussions with Zainul. Inspired by Bhagwat’s insights, Zainul highlighted that the book chronicles the bravery of Veer Abdul Hamid during the 1965 India-Pakistan war, specifically his heroic act of destroying Pakistan’s Patton tanks, which turned the tide of the war.
