ASSEMBLY POLLS 2024 | Nominations for 43 assembly constituencies to begin today

CEO K Ravi Kumar has said that nominations for the first phase of assembly elections will start from October 18. The last date for nomination is October 25. Nominations will be from 11 am to 3 pm. Nominations will not be done on holidays.

Kumar said that all the candidates will ensure compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission during nomination and during this time only three vehicles will be allowed within 100 meters of the nomination site. "Only four people will be able to go to the nomination room with the candidate. Proposal of 10 people will be mandatory for the nomination of the candidate. Every general candidate will have to deposit Rs 10,000 as security deposit. Whereas for Scheduled Caste and Tribe this amount will be Rs five thousand," he added.

The CEO said that every candidate will have to clearly fill Form 26 as an affidavit. Candidates will have to advertise information related to their criminal cases in at least three newspapers and also display it on their social media accounts. He said that every candidate should open a separate bank account for the details of election expenses. He was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Thursday.

Kumar said that a two-day art festival related to the assembly elections is starting from Friday at the Jaipal Singh Stadium, its inauguration will be done on Friday at 11 am. "In the festival, 81 renowned artists will exhibit their art on cultural concerns related to the 81 assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. Many types of cultural activities will also be held on this occasion," he added.

The Chief Electoral Officer invited all the voters on this occasion and appealed to come with their families. He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, a total of Rs 37 lakh worth of illegal goods and cash have been seized so far.
