The Director In-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, Birendra Kumar Tiwari, inaugurated the new and alternative coke oven gas line for the RMP department. The ceremony was attended by Executive Director (Projects and Additional Charge Material Management) C.R. Mahapatra, Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) Suresh Rangani, Executive Director (Human Resources and Additional Charge Services) Rajan Prasad, along with Chief General Managers, Heads of various departments, senior executives, and employees.
Coke oven gas is a crucial fuel for the RMP. Previously, it was supplied through an old pipeline, which faced choking and other issues, failing to meet the RMP's requirements. Consequently, the RMP department had to use tar fuel, a valuable by-product, to meet its energy needs. To address this, the EMD department installed an approximately 2-kilometer-long alternative coke oven gas line using internal resources. The new gas line has been charged, and now, two additional kilns in the RMP are operating with coke oven gas, resulting in significant savings for the plant. Utilizing the alternative coke oven gas line ensures 100% use of the coke oven gas, substantial tar savings, and aids in achieving the net-zero carbon emission goal.
This project was executed under the guidance of Chief General Manager (EMD) Gulshan Kumar, with commendable contributions from the EMD team, including Sanjay, Deputy General Manager (EMD); Rakesh Kumar Ojha, Assistant General Manager (EMD); Prem Ranjan, Assistant General Manager (EMD); B.P.S. Rana, Senior Manager (EMD); Mr. Saurabh, Manager (EMD); Amitesh Raj, Manager (EMD); S. Suman, Deputy Manager (EMD); Ashish Baghel, Assistant Manager (EMD), and other agencies and officials.
